about

Established in 2014.

My name is Garrett I am the owner of Clover Canine. I was raised working with dogs and horses, which led to a passion for training my own dogs for obedience and then competition.  This appreciation of the human-animal bond led to my employment as a dog trainer at one of the top training facilities in the country where I had the opportunity to work with 100's of dogs of all breeds and temperaments. For the past 4 years I have been working privately with clients both here in Phoenix and in Flagstaff helping people build meaningful relationships with their dogs.  Now I have opened a facility dedicated to training dogs.  Clover Canine is here to support the needs of the community and their furry family members.

Whether just boarding or enrolled in bootcamp you can rest assured your best friend is in good hands.  Through gentle guidance and positive reinforcement in our structured environment we strive to exceed the expectations of our client.

about our Board and train camps

Here at Clover Canine, we believe that training a dog takes time, patience, and lots of love! Our program is designed with all of that in mind. During the camp your dog is trained in a facility that is built around the owner, Garrett Murphy’s home. It is a loving and very realistic environment that replicates most everyday activities. At the start of the camp, we provide your pup with a few days to adjust to being in a new environment and around new people. It’s important to us that we build a relationship and trust with each dog that we train. We take the best pieces of all the training philosophy’s and use them to create a well- trained dog that doesn’t behave just because they know they need to but are also quite happy to do so! Our proven balanced training method provides a clear picture of what is expected of your pup. We achieve this through an emphasis on proper communication and positive reinforcement. The base of the camp is the same, but every single dog is different, so we do customize each camp depending on the needs of the owner and the dog. During the camp your dog will also have the chance to take multiple outings to parks, restaurants, stores (Home Depot and anywhere dog friendly), and on the hiking trail near us to re-enforce their training in the real world. There are a few different ways we help to ensure that the training on your dog sticks. We provide private lessons for the owner(s) while your dog is with us. In addition, we offer private lessons after your pup goes home that the owner can schedule for either in-home or public. We recommend scheduling the lessons within the first month for best results. Should you have any other issues with your furry friend we are here to answer any questions for the life of your dog!

2-week camp

Our 2-week camp teaches all the basics of Heel, Sit, Down, Stay, and Come. We provide a private lesson for the owner(s) at the end of the camp, which is also pick-up day. In addition, we offer a hour-long private lesson after your pup goes home that the owner can schedule for either in-home or public. We recommend scheduling the lesson within the first month for best results. Should you have any other issues with your furry friend we are here to answer any questions for the life of your dog! Included in this program: 2 private lessons, training prong collar, handmade 6-ft leather leash and baths. (place command, place bed, and e-collar not included in this camp).

3-week camp

We provide 2 private lessons for the owner(s) while your dog is with us that occur at the end of week 2 and the end of week 3, which is also pick-up day. In addition, we offer a hour-long private lesson after your pup goes home that the owner can schedule for either in-home or public. We recommend scheduling the lesson within the first month for best results. Should you have any other issues with your furry friend we are here to answer any questions for the life of your dog! Included in this program: 2 private lessons at the facility, a hour-long private lesson after your dog goes home, training prong collar, e-collar, place bed, handmade 6-ft leather leash and baths.

4-5 week Off-leash e-collar program

Over the course of the e-collar camp, we slowly introduce the dogs to what an e-collar is to create off-leash reliability in your dog. This camp is a flat rate for the 4 weeks. On occasion, we might end up needing a few extra days with them. We will absolutely communicate that with you, and we will not charge you for those extra days. We provide 2 private lessons for the owner(s) while your dog is with us that typically occur at the end of week 3 and the end of week 4. On that last lesson we are more than happy to bring your pup to you and preform the lesson in your home. In addition, we offer 2 one hour-long private lessons after your pup goes home that the owner can schedule for either in-home or public. We recommend scheduling the lessons within the first month for best results. Included in this program: 2 private lessons during the camp (one at the facility and one in- home), 2 hour-long private lesson after your dog goes home, training prong collar, e-collar, place bed, handmade 6-ft leather leash and baths.

Puppy prep program

The Puppy Prep Program is a 2 part program. The first part in training your new puppy is a 2 week stay with us. In these first 2 weeks we focus on teaching your puppy the basic muscle memory for each command using lots of food, luring and fun games! All of the commands that have been taught will then be re-enforced and perfected later on when they come back for the second part of the program, which is the 3-week stay with us. During this part of the program we start talking them out into public to re-enforce their training in the real world. They also get crate training, potty training, socialization with other puppies and lots of love while they’re here!

Private lessons

$100/lesson at facility

$150/in home lesson

Sessions are generally held at the facility where we can work on basic obedience and specific problems that may need solving, as well as advanced instruction. Private lessons can also be held in public places or in your own home if that is what is needed for you and your dog.

Group Classes (AKC CGC and Beginner)- $250

AKC(American Kennel Club) CGC (Canine Good Citizen): The AKC CGC is a two-part program designed to 1.) teach responsible dog ownership to owners and 2.) certify dogs that have the training and behaviors needed to be reliable, well behaved members of their families and communities.  This is a six-week course with one class weekly, all culminating in the AKC CGC test on week six.  During the class, we train through the behaviors needed to pass the test, providing guidance on dog handling skills and training exercises necessary for testing. Throughout this class, we provide a comfortable learning environment for both dog and handler, all students are encouraged to engage and ask questions throughout the class.  After passing the test students are issued an official AKC CGC title for their dog. This title proves that handlers have made the effort and followed through with training, teaching their dogs proper etiquette in a public setting.

Beginner Classes: This is a 6-week course that consists of one 1-hour long class a week.  Our beginner class teaches the basic, common commands such as: Heel, Sit, Down, Stay, Come.   Along with these common commands, we teach our students key concepts of Dog Training Theory.  The group class setting provides students the opportunity to train around a variety of distractions as well. This education gives you the tools to build a valuable and engaging relationship with your furry family member.

I have been so impressed with the team at Clover Canine. My dog Lady, was a sweet- but untamed wild german shepherd. We brought her home from Bootcamp yesterday and she is a completely different dog. She is more calm and listens to and obeys commands. I understand that training will continue to be a live-long endeavor with Lady- but Alonso and Clover Canine gave Lady and my family the tools to be successful. 6 stars if I could.

A friend of my wife and I recommended the three week boot camp at Clover Canine for our two 1 year old Golden Retrievers. We are so happy with the training they got. We just got them home today and they are so well behaved it's almost like they are different dogs. The team at Clover Canine were very thorough, professional, and extremely knowledgeable about not only dog training but training us, as well. We missed our pups tremendously, but it was well worth the sacrifice.

Our little Blu just finished his 4 week ecollar program with Clover Canine and we couldn't be happier. Clover Canine is a WELL run business and a great experience for any pup. The property is well kept, and they thought about pretty much everything when starting the business. Garrett has two climate controlled kennel rooms, clean relief areas with sprayers to keep the dogs cool, a grassy front area for training and playing, and a training field in the back for weekly lessons. Blu was a little over 4 months old when we dropped him off. In just 4 weeks we have seen amazing results. Blu has shown great bathroom, kennel, walking, and house manners since we've had him home. The entire team was very helpful in helping us learn how to keep up all the work they put into our little pup and we are very grateful. We can't wait till Blu's first group lesson and the next chance to board him with this great business!  Thank you Garrett, Shania, and the rest of the Clover Crew for all the hard work!

We had an awesome experience with clover canine. Our puppy just completed 3 weeks getting hands on training at the facility. At first, I was a little concerned leaving a puppy at a new place but I did my research and talked with Garrett and his team. They were empathetic, patience and very attentive all the way through the process. Walter (the puppy) came home healthy and with a catalog of behaviors he now demonstrates consistently. Our family has a very active and busy lifestyle, like many of you out there, and it was beyond helpful and a good use of funds for Garrett and team to help us get ahead of the training game. Now we're enjoying more quality and fun time as a family as a result. A huge thanks to Garrett, Alonzo and Shania (I'm sure there are other team members I don't meet who helped keep Walter safe and happy)! Thank you very much!

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Clover. I have two toy poodles, Tucker and Iggy. Tucker was first to enroll at 7 months in the 3 week boot camp. After 1 week we decided to send Iggy, 4 years, as well. I loved my dogs before training but now they are a true pleasure. You can tell Garret loves dogs and really loves what he does. He is caring, extremely knowledgeable and very patient not only with the dogs but also with me. I highly recommend Cover Canine.

I am so BEYOND HAPPY with the training that Garrett and Shania did with our dog, June, this past month. They put so much time, energy, and LOVE into our June. We had been resistant to do an in-home training with our dog in the past as we didn't want her to be in a hostile or mean environment, with an aggressive trainer (things we had heard happen to other friends' dogs). That does not happen here!! Garrett and Shania are incredibly sweet and loving to the dogs, and of course firm with them when they need to be. But there is no yelling or shaming or punishing dogs. The dogs absolutely LOVE the trainers. Our dog is coming home a completely different dog, so well trained and SO SO happy!!

They worked with her on being less reactive to other dogs, proper manners, walking on a leash, socialization skills with dogs and humans, rattlesnake training, and so much more. They took her to the park, other training facilities, Home Depot, you name it! We can't recommend them enough. Plus I love that we now have a place we can board our dog while we are out of town (for a great price) and she will get refresher training while she is there. Seriously - this is such an AMAZING place!!!!

We have been so happy with Clover Canine and the services that Garret provides. At 6 months old our mini Sheepadoodle went through Garrets board and train program along with some remote collar training and the results have been outstanding. Garret invited us to tour his facility prior to securing Stella's spot and from the 1st visit we were very comfortable with both Garret and the boarding/training facilities. It seemed to be a perfect balance of a professionally built boarding facility but in a home setting so for training purposes the dogs are being exposed to "real world" situations. Since her training Stella is a pleasure to take on walks, and knows many commands.

In addition, since her training Stella has boarded at Clover Canine on two occasions, and she is always so excited to be back in the able & caring hands of Garrett. The boarding rates are very reasonable and when we consider that we know Garret is continuing her training when she stays with him it makes it that much more valuable.

If you are looking for a solid trainer combined with a clean well maintained boarding facility, look no further than Clover Canine!

Well I meet Garret thru my job, and It has been truly awesome. I have 2 dogs, well 2 now. After my Dad's dog charlie passing and the passing of my mother my dad wanted another and for me 2 come to live with him, So myself and T-Bone have move in but alot of things needed to be worked out. Garret has worked with the both of them and JoJo is now home and T has another week. I am in my office as I am writing this and JoJo is on his PLACE and he has been there for the last 20min. Garret is the person that you want to seek out to help 1 U learn how to respect and control your animal and that your animal learns to respect U and Your environment. Truly amazing. My Dad is impressed and that is hard to do. Give him a call. I can't wait to see T-Bone as he is kinda hard headed like me, but he is part Pit Bull and older and has a mind of his own. Seek Garret out! you won't be disappointed. David

We needed some help when got two new boxer puppies. After checking around into several training programs we found Garrett. He was down to earth and was able to accommodate our hectic family schedule. We did the 3 week program which was very reasonable and in my opinion a better value than the other 2/3 week programs I compared. It was great to see the pups progression after the first two weeks, (when we got to visit & get our own training). To see how much more solid they were after the third week was such a huge deal. We brought two pretty wild pups and after 3 weeks got much more well behaved pups with a real solid training foundation. There is of course continual work that needs to put into the pups/training and the follow up sessions, which are included in the program are valuable & much appreciated. Garrett is genuinely interested in the well being and training of the dogs he works with and we also are going to utilize the boarding option when we need to head out of town, when they will get a tune up at the same time!

I highly recommend Clover Canine for dog training and boarding. Garrett did a phenomenal job with our dogs. The facility at his home is very nice with the care and safety of the animals in mind along with plenty of outside area for play and training. Garrett is extremely knowledgeable with dog psychology and behavior and his love for the animals shows with pride in his work.
Our dogs.... 2 aussie/border collies with polar opposite personalities. Garrett had to use completely different strategies with each dog; he personalized their experience. Dolby (3yrs) is a very high-energy dog that was impossible walk without him dragging me and extremely destructive in and outside of the home. He was very protective and did not like strangers entering our home, the doorbell, vet, and don't even think about a groomer. Roxy (1.5yrs) is a very fearful dog. She was only comfortable and happy in her kennel and in the kitchen, we would have to trick her to go into the backyard to play. Her extreme fear made it near impossible to walk her or bring her in public. If there was a dog on the opposite side walk, she would go insane, all of her hair would stand on end and she would act out with fear-based aggression. She would need to be sedated before going to the vet and that was still challenging. No food was safe on counters or tables and we lost many pair of shoes. Combining Dolby's energy and Roxy's anxiety almost caused us to lose the life of one of our cats.
After attending Clover Canines training program, I am thrilled to say that I have seen a night and day difference. Both dogs are able to walk nicely and obey all commands; our shoes, furniture, walls, landscaping, and food are once again safe. They are able to sit nicely within a couple feet of the cats. They no longer go crazy when someone comes to the home. We are able to bring them to stores, restaurants, and outings every day. They are a joy to be with and most importantly, my sweet little Roxy is now a happier dog without fear of life outside the kitchen. I absolutely trust and recommend Garrett with Clover Canine and will be using them for all of our future boarding.

Paul & Judy Titus w/ Noel

Garrett,

Just a quick note to tell you how much we appreciate your working with Noel. When we brought her to you, she was a 4 1/2 month Yorkie/Shih-tzu mix with a very hard headed attitude. We got her at age 8 weeks, and failed miserably with all attempts to house-break her or train her even to most basic of commands. Our first visit with her, 2 weeks later completely astounded us. Not only had she calmed down, she was actually house-broken and obeying commands such as heel, sit and stay. Today, after only 3 weeks with you, we brought her home and WOWed all of the neighbors. She heels, sits, stays. She stayed outside (with me nearby, but not holding her leash for 30 minutes. She is well behaved and under control. Your methods are gentle, humane and effective.

Thank you. Had you failed to train her, the next step would have been the pound.

Garrett at Clover Canine. He literally transformed our crazy, yet loving, chocolate lab into an amazing, well-behaved dog. Now, we take him everywhere with us. His favorite place to go is Home Depot. First day of dog training, Leo, literally tackled Garrett, hard. Garrett said that that had never happened to him before. After three weeks of training, Leo is literally a brand new dog. Amazing. I give Garrett the highest of recommendations. He's the best.

Brought our two mini Aussies to Clover Canine for the board and train program while we were on vacation. Garrett, Shania, and Alicia did a great job with them. They took them all over the place and socialized them, and when we got them back they were amazing. We have continued with group training and Canine Good Citizen training with Clover. Our 8 and 13 month old pups have learned all the things they need to be well mannered and obedient pets. And the group training has helped us to be good handlers. Highly recommend Garrett and his crew!

I took my two Aussie doodles here for training recently before moving across country. I can't say enough good things about Clover Canine! They were pretty good dogs before, but the younger one 20 lb tends to be barkey and bossy when her 55 lb older brother is around and that combined energy made them hard to control on walks, etc.

Now they are picture perfect, and the 32 hour drive to Florida was soooo much easier. They heeled well, waited for me to go through the door first, when I stop walking they sit...I can't tell you how happy I am.

And it's been about 3 weeks since they graduated. Last night I had company and they started 'showing off' play wrestling, and I put them both on their place beds...and they stayed! Everyone kept talking about what good dogs they were. I thought 'thank god for Clover Canine!!'

I am a first time dog owner. I have always been a self described 'cat' lady. When my two beloved kitties passed away 2 months apart I became seriously depressed. My internal medicine doctor strongly recommended my getting a dog. A DOG!!! I don't know ANYTHING about dogs!!!

Along came Garrett and Clover Canine. My groomer recommended me to Garrett and I will be forever grateful! My dog is an overly exzuberant 60 lb. Goldendoodle. He was totally impossible for me to handle. Getting in an out of the car was a nightmare! Walks were out of the question....he walked me!! Now my 'Jo' is a complete delight! He walks great and heels! I think he is proud too! Garrett was so patient with both of us! ( I needed training too)!!! Now I have the confidence and knowledge to be a good dog owner of a very well trained dog thanks to Garrett and his hard work and patience!!

Best of all...you can go back anytime! Garrett offers over night boarding and includes refresher training with your stay!!! You can go away and come home confident that your dog will be happy, well cared for and better behaved! It is such a peace of mind for me to know I have a forever place to keep my dog during trips.

Thank you for everything you do Garrett!!

Best dog trainer ever! I call Garrett the Cesar of Anthem. I have an almost 3 yo 120 lb. American Bulldog. I took him to puppy training in Flagstaff around 3 months old. Raji passed kindergarten and elementary school and learned a few basics. BUT I still couldn't walk him without it being a pull fest. I heard about Garrett, met with him and saw how great he was with my dog and how good my dog was with him. He obviously loves and understands dog mentality. At the time Raji was around 6 months old so I opted to do the 3 week boot camp as I live around 100 miles away. Amazing results! Raji still remembers his commands and I can walk him with no pulling or stress. I back the forest and the other day we startled a baby elk out. I told my dog "stay" and he barely looked at the elk, and this is over two years since training.
I am so glad Garrett is doing traditional boarding now too. Clover Canine's facilities are new, clean, air conditioned and they have 5 acres. I can now drop off my dog on the way to Sky Harbor and pick him up on the way home. It's so funny, when I get off the freeway Raji gets super excited, he knows we are going to Canine Camp!
It is worth it to drive the distance to train and board my dog with someone I trust with his life.

Clover Canine is AMAZING. Garrett is so attentive and loving to all the animals. I recently suffered a huge tragedy in my family and this facility has been a life saver. I've been through the ringer but Garrett has been accommodating, understanding and most important, loving to my puppy! The facility is amazing and I encourage anyone looking for someone to watch their pet to bring them here. Your furry friend will not only be loved but also will leave with some good training skills.

After working with the owner for a couple of sessions, I decided to do the 3week boot camp. There isn't anyone I would trust more, than Clover Canine with my Dog. The facility is super nice with excellent A/C. Garrett truly loves working with dogs and uses positive re-enforcment with successful results. He is resilient, yet patient and easy going. He really cares about the end result. My dog is now better behaved, walks by my side and listens to commands. Garrett provides excellent information, even helps out in-between sessions via text or phone call. It is like magic watching Garrett work! He seems to really know how to communicate with her and gets her excited about learning new commands.
